Ateneu Comercial do Porto & Mira Artes Performativas, Porto, 2017
Approaching the arts ecosystem through artistic practice sessions, artists talks and performances, the Artistic Practice Symposium considers the performing arts production modes and its regime of visibility within the present socio-political context where we live in. Nowadays, there’s an urgency on engaging modes that insists stronger on inclusion immanency and in the power of imagination, in order to establish diffractive tendencies that are willing to reinvent typologies and topologies within the communities. Currently, artistic practises have been having a fundamental role in the way how artists transmit their know-how and working methodologies. Artistic research dwells more and more in experimental and relational processes within logics wherein the ideas and its material expressions, distributes movements and matters that inquiry performativities and speculate perceptions and transductions that exist beyond the human range. The multiplicity of practice-based research and collaborative dispositives that will be shared by the invited artists during the Symposium, reveals a discursive space of artistic reflection that is of crucial value for the Porto performing arts scene. The Artistic Practice Symposium, is a program to all interested audience, visual and performing artists, art researchers, cultural agents and curious people who work within and beyond the arts.

Eu & Água 2023
Eu & Água
Performance installation at local shopping center with live sound produced by Otsoa. Developed in three acts, Eu & Água, Madrugada do meu corpo and Espaços de Co Labor Acção
Colaboration with Otsoa (performer, sound & production)
With the support of Gui Flux (video & tech knowledge)
Special thanks to artists and curators Celeste Cerqueira & Silvestre Pestana
Thanks to Ócio
At Centro Comercial de Cedofeita, Lote 67, Porto, May and June’23
1º act Eu & Água
Inspired by Maria Bethânia's continued listening to the song "Eu & Água," Ana Rocha once again invokes, in an unconventional space and context—a store space, a showcase space, a reliquary space—her relationship with water as a propelling, destructive, and transformative element. Water that moves and composes human beings, that moves them, that ebbs and flows, and stirs them from memory, immersing them in a birth of creation toward extinction. A water that is drunk, that is extinguished, that decomposes. Water, a reservoir of that which radiates toxicity and exchange, water, a wave that swallows, petrifies, solidifies, evaporates, and challenges the idea of structure and stability. Eu & Água is an exercise in ingestion, washing, and creation.
2º Act Madrugada do meu corpo
The spaces between the organs that remain to continue creating within the edges of a monotonous universe. The polis mass that chews up artistic laboratory manifestations and transforms them into capital images. What remains in the invisible sphere of bodies to continue testing and fermenting possibilities beyond formatting and product. Water runs and crosses these masses, and finds other dawns.
3º Act Espaços de Co Labor Acção
Spaces that remain for other living perspectives, for accounting and blanking any product pretension, and only for breathing and ventilation.

Toda a Gente Vai 2024
Site-specific duet with Gio Lourenço
Circular Festival \ Vila do Conde, September 2024
Residency at Trust Collective \ Barril de Alva, July’24
Residency at Pólo das Gaivotas and Companhia Olga Roriz (Lisbon), March & May’24
“How much it takes to move away from oneself to experience another experience of being – and of being together”, writes Brazilian journalist, researcher and writer Eliane Brum in “Banzeiro Òkòtó – a trip to the Amazon center of the world” (2021). This is a reflection that derives from the dialectics of the Same and the Other, of disidentification and disidentity, and on the Common, starting from the philosopher Peter Pál Pelbart. What do these quotes have to do with Toda a Gente Vai?
In this site-specific performance, Ana & Gio invite us to dive into the (un)certainties of human (in)humanity. What is common to every individual is “everyone is going to die.” But, “everyone will be born”?, and who are these people that a whole individual represents, what conditionings and codes are attributed to them? From the voice, the text, the gesture and the body that is still a mystery, Ana & Gio start from a puzzle of conversations in search of one another and their maturation in the future.
Toda a Gente Vai, is a new creation by choreographers and multidisciplinary artists, Ana Rocha & Gio Lourenço, in response to an invitation from Festival Circular’24.

Fraud by Nature 2012
Tanztage
Sophiensaele, Berlin, 2012
Of nature in front of us. In the beginning was a tree which later grew with a blessed will. Sound fell from heaven and words were given for tongue exercises. A universal language moves through a delayed, mythical abduction. Until then, it is our decision to present the living, a fraud. But ethics / morality of good behavior rises as a hope of happiness. A secret paradox of naked truth lies in warrior hands.
Concept, choreography, performance: Ana Rocha
Artistic consulting: Jorge Gonçalves
Coproduction: Mezzanine
With the support of NEC – Núcleo de Experimentação Coreográfica (PT) and Uferstudios Berlin
Thanks to Coaching Project colleagues, Peter Pleyer, Ciglia Gadola and Franziska Schrage, Sandra Blatterer and Susana Alonso, Connie Breitkreuz, Barbara Friedrich and Thomas Schaupp

Um Olhar a Preto e Branco e um País na Sombra da Luz 2015

Dei-te o Mundo de Bandeja 2023
Café Asa de Mosca, home and meeting place for many of us, humans and non-humans, creatives and artists, producers and musicians, inhabitants of the Bonfim neighborhood, will be the stage for another long-term performance-concert meeting. Dei-te o mundo de bandeja, brings together the delicate work of ceramist-sculptor Sofia Beça, the musical genius and real-time composition of drummer Pedro Melo Alves, the versatility and keen listening of musician and DJ Otsoa, and the body-spirit-person of choreographer and performer Ana Rocha, who, in a rigorous and structured line, provide their tools for a unique moment of improvisation and experimentation. In a world where we demand spaces for creation and possibilities for moving new universes where the collective is more than the apparent, the material, the superficial, we challenge ourselves at Asa de Mosca to touch closely and dive into that which is a little bigger than us, or a given on a silver platter.
Dei-te o mundo de bandeja, more than an expression of everyday life, it invites us to a space-time in which everything is already there in potential, before us this world, before us this service of manifest and common, before us everything else that regenerates itself like water, sound, earth, touches and exchanges, transforms and expands.
